How to Convert FML-Revathi & ML-TT Fonts to Unicode

For decades, desktop publishing (DTP) in Kerala has depended heavily on ASCII-based legacy fonts like FML-Revathi, FML-Karthika, ML-TT Ambili, ML-TT Haritha, and Panchari. While these fonts look fine within older software like Adobe PageMaker or CorelDRAW 11, their character encoding does not comply with the global Unicode standard.

When you copy text formatted in an FML font and paste it into modern applications like WhatsApp, Facebook, Microsoft Word, Canva, or Premiere Pro, the text appears as unreadable English letters and gibberish symbols (e.g., A-X-b-m-c).

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Copy the text from your legacy document (PageMaker, InDesign, or Word file).
  2. Ensure Legacy FML / ML-TT is selected in the "Convert From" dropdown above.
  3. Paste your text into the left text box.
  4. The converted, clean Malayalam Unicode text will instantly appear in the right box.
  5. Click Copy Output to paste your text into WhatsApp, Facebook, websites, or video editing apps!
